  * QUIC = Quick UDP Internet Connections
    * [[wp>UDP]] based transport protocol meant to improve performance over TCP
        * defined by [[https://datatracker.ietf.org/doc/html/rfc9000|RFC 9000]]
        * supported by all current (2023) major browsers, and enabled by default in all except Safari, 
        * making over 50% of all traffic entering Google (source: Wikipedia)
    * The use of HTTP/2 over QUIC instead of TCP is called HTTP/3, per [[https://datatracker.ietf.org/doc/html/rfc9114|RFC 9114]]
    * Also usable for [[wp>DNS]], per [[https://datatracker.ietf.org/doc/html/rfc9250|RFC 9250]]. It is then sometimes called DoQ.
    * The acronym is how it was originally proposed by Google, but the [[wp>IETF]] does not use it as such, but just as the protocol name
